Change the slides to 16:9

The screen at the venue is 16:9. Other slide sizes show black bars.

Why this matters: The stage screen is widescreen (16:9). A 4:3 or other slide size still shows, but with black bars on the sides and a smaller picture.

PowerPoint for Windows and Mac

  1. Choose Design → Slide Size → Widescreen (16:9).
  2. When PowerPoint asks how to scale the content, choose Ensure Fit.
  3. Page through the slides: images and text boxes may need small adjustments.
  4. Save and upload again.

Google Slides

  1. Choose File → Page setup → Widescreen 16:9.
  2. Check the slides, then download as .pptx and upload.

Keynote

  1. In the Document sidebar, set Slide Size to Wide (16:9).
  2. Export to PowerPoint or PDF and upload.

If that doesn't work: If changing the size breaks your layout, you can keep 4:3. It will work, with black bars on the sides.

The checks run in your browser before the upload and again on the server. The server's result counts, and you see it on your upload page and in the confirmation email. See also the technical guidelines for your presentation.
