Convert the video to MP4 (H.264)

Some video formats play on Mac but not on Windows, or the other way round.

Why this matters: MP4 video with H.264 picture and AAC sound plays in PowerPoint on both Mac and Windows. Formats such as HEVC (H.265), ProRes, .mov, .wmv and .avi may not play on every presentation computer.

PowerPoint for Windows (easiest)

  1. Choose File → Info → Compress Media → Full HD (1080p).
  2. PowerPoint converts the videos in the presentation to MP4 (H.264).
  3. Save and upload the presentation again.

HandBrake (free, Mac and Windows)

  1. Install HandBrake from handbrake.fr and open your video.
  2. Choose the preset General → Fast 1080p30.
  3. Check that Format is MP4 and Video Encoder is H.264 (x264).
  4. Click Start Encode, then insert the new .mp4 into the presentation (or upload it as a separate file).

If that doesn't work: If converting isn't possible, upload the presentation anyway. It is accepted; the technical team will know to test that video.
