Avoid videos that play from the internet

The venue network can be unreliable. Embed the video in the presentation if you can.

Why this matters: A YouTube or other online video needs a working internet connection at the exact moment you present. The venue network is shared and can be slow.

Embed the video instead

  1. Get the video file (.mp4) if you have the right to use it: from its creator, your own archive or a download option on the service.
  2. Delete the online video from the slide.
  3. Insert the file: Insert → Video → This Device… (Windows) or Insert → Video → Movie from File… (Mac).
  4. Save and upload the presentation again.

If that doesn't work: If you can't get the file, keep the online video. It is accepted, but have a plan if it doesn't load, such as a screenshot on the next slide.

The checks run in your browser before the upload and again on the server. The server's result counts, and you see it on your upload page and in the confirmation email. See also the technical guidelines for your presentation.
